‘’I like my Piano lessons because my teacher helps me break the music down to make my hands more confident!‘’
Amanda, age 8, Beginner Piano
‘’My singing has really improved and I’ve found my musical theatre voice. I’ve learned about my breathing and my posture, and more about myself – I am free and no one can judge me‘’
Milly, age 12, Singing course
Piano (Young Learners to Adults)
Our piano courses are designed for beginner to grade 8 level, and include both Skills and Repertoire. Whilst we do currently offer ABRSM, Trinity and Rock School exam courses, the focus is primarily on enjoyment and development for the student. Courses include sightreading, scales, and repertoire in a variety of genres. We help students to first understand what they are playing, in order to learn the music effectively
Piano Sightreading (Young Learners to Adults)
Our piano sightreading courses support the piano grades, in the knowledge that Sightreading is a skill in itself. Students learn landmark note reading, and how to break down and understand sightreading exercises.
Scales and Arpeggios
Our scales training courses recognise that scales are a skill in their own right, and come away from the tradional ‘spoonfed’ approach to teaching them . Scales are finger strength training, and are also present in repertoire, along with arpeggios. We teach students how to free themselves of scales books, and learn how to work out any scale, from any note, from a young age. We introduce the Circle of Fifths as a reference point, and explain how keys, scales, arpgeggios and chords fit into it
Singing (Young Learners and Adults)
Our singing courses help students develop their voice as an instrument, and to find improve pitch, rhythm and performance. Singing courses can incorporate sightreading, notation and music theory, and are very much designed to suit the learner’s level and interests. We offer Trinity and Rock School Singing exam courses, and support students every step of the way to reach their potential
Music Aptitude Course (MAT)
Our Music Aptitude course demystifies the entrance exam for Secondary school, and incorporates both the standard MAT and the additional questions Secondary schools may ask. Exercises are broken down for the learner’s comprehension, to equip the student with the confidence needed for the test day
Duke of Edinburgh
